2014 resolution: Post more, and in english. This was co-posted on HCD Connect. And is is a short english version of this post. The “teenage pregnancy” project involved three phases: ‘Hearing’ the people involved on the theme in order to identify problems, gathering ‘Ideas’ to solve the problems and doing ‘Actions’ for prototyping the given ideas. It was one of the projects of “Movimento Minas“, a program in the that seeks to strengthen the ties between state and society, stimulating the collective construction of solutions. Movimento Minas is a project that seeks to approximate state and society around the problems in the State of Minas Gerais (Brazil).
The project has three phases: “Listening”, “Ideas” and “Actions”. At the “Listen” phase, the project team hears people related to pre-established themes to identify a problem. At the “Ideas” phase, people are invited to discuss and give ideas to solve the problem. In the “actions” phase, the ideas are compiled and prototyped. This is an open innovation project – where collective intelligence builds solutions of a public problem – and we used a design thinking approach, considering the needs of the user (citizen) as the starting point of the design of a public service.
The first process of co-creation of the Movimento Minas was related to the teenage pregnancy. With its implementation, the team’s intention was to test the proposed methodology and help answer questions such as: How to lead a process of open innovation? How to use virtual channels to promote participation? How to test ideas before its implementation? How to prototype public services?
At the “listening” stage, the chosen problem was the lack of welfare of pregnant teenagers; At the ideas stage, citizens were asked: “How to promote the well-being of adolescents during pregnancy?”. Lots of ideas were given, as a result of a mobilization process; On “Actions” stage, we chose to find what the most appropriate approach to give quality information to young people, in an adapted manner to their context .
A prototype was designed based on the ideas received , tested with the teens and proved that the proper approach facilitates the assimilation of relevant information for your well -being . The full story is available at: http://prezi.com/wmmimkw1rcan/teenage-pregnancy-case/
